RSHC Wins Total Victory for Zurich Insurance Company in Bad-Faith Insurance Case in Missouri Federal Court
RSHC won total victory
– a defense verdict – for Zurich Insurance Company in a federal case
alleging bad-faith in the refusal to settle claims brought by its insured – a
Fortune 300 construction company – facing multiple lead-exposure lawsuits in St.
Louis, Missouri. The plaintiff alleged that Zurich failed to settle those
lawsuits in bad-faith, and sought more than $300 million in damages, plus
prejudgment interest and punitive damages, leaving Zurich facing more than a $1
billion in total exposure.
Following a three-week,
hard-fought trial, the jury deliberated less than three hours before handing
Zurich a total victory. The RSHC trial team, led by Ron Safer, included Abbie
Peluso, Lucas Rael, and Maegan McAdam.
