Bio
Jason Julien is a first chair trial lawyer and experienced investigator who represents companies and individuals in complex civil litigation, government enforcement, and white collar criminal matters in federal and state courts. Jason honed his skills as a trial lawyer and investigator as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.
During his tenure as a federal prosecutor, Jason represented the United States in some of its highest profile jury trials and investigations that occurred during his time in the office, including securing the conviction and a 20-year sentence of R&B singer R. Kelly on child pornography and child exploitation charges after a month-long jury trial, and, as the lead prosecutor, securing the conviction of six members and associates of the O-Block street gang after a three-month jury trial for the murder of Chicago rapper FBG Duck during a brazen daytime shooting in the Gold Coast neighborhood.
Prior to leaving the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jason most recently served as a Deputy Chief in the Violent Crimes section, supervising four Assistant United Attorneys and, among other things, evaluating charging and plea decisions, conducting trial strategy conferences, evaluating jury addresses, and supervising the progress of investigations. Prior to being promoted to Deputy Chief, Jason served in several sections in the office, including in the Public Corruption and Organized Crime section, where, among things, he served as the lead prosecutor supervising wide-ranging, high-profile investigations of public corruption and financial crimes in south-suburban Chicago governments, leading to charges against high-ranking government officials for fraud and other financial crimes. Throughout his time in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jason led investigations involving a wide variety of subject matters, including embezzlement, tax offenses, bankruptcy fraud, and murder and other violent crimes in aid of racketeering.
Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Jason represented companies and individuals in complex civil litigation at an Am Law 100 international law firm, an Am Law 200 national law firm, and a boutique litigation firm specializing in financial services litigation. Throughout these years, Jason handled a wide variety of litigation matters, including litigation involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, other consumer protection statutes, products liability, and employment disputes
