Job Summary:

RSHC is seeking students entering high school, college, or law school interested in attending a summer intern program. The Summer Intern will gain legal experience and training working under the supervision of RSHC attorneys and other professional staff in a variety of practice areas while assisting with researching matters, writing summaries based on their findings, and observing interactions with clients. Academic credit may be received subject to approval by the Legal Intern's academic institution. This is a part-time program that will take place over 8 weeks with some flexibility regarding the start and end date.

       Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Gather and obtain records or other information from various sources including government agencies, libraries, legislative bodies, associations, and courts.
  • Research and summarize legal, regulatory, and legislative policy issues.
  • Draft, review, evaluate, and edit presentations, motions, briefs, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Shadow lawyers and professional staff in depositions, hearings, trials, closing and client meetings.
  • Assist with formatting and cite-checking various documents.
  • Assist with organizing, tagging, and cataloging documents and supplements.
  • Assist with special projects and other day-to-day matters.
  • Attend regularly scheduled trainings and firm events.
  • Meet with the Practice Teams and Departments to learn about the substantive areas of focus and the business aspects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Education and Experience

  • Open to upperclassmen in high school, college students at all levels, and law students at all levels.
  • Must be enrolled in school currently.

    Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed in an office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer should be expected.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

The position is part-time non-exempt and requires standard employment screens, including a background check of educational, employment, and criminal histories.
