RSHC’s Jeff Urdangen and Allison Siebeneck Author Amicus Brief For Clients Supporting Cook County Public Defender’s Position on Jail Population and COVID-19

Recently RSHC represented four amici curiae (“friends of the court”) clients supporting the request of Cook County Public Defender Amy Campanelli to immediately address COVID-19 risks associated with persons incarcerated in the Cook County Jail.  The brief urged the court to move aggressively to de-populate the jail and allow these presumptively innocent members of our society to be allowed take steps to avoid infection. Shortly after the brief was filed Chief Judge Martin ordered an “expedited bond hearing process.”
