Bio
As a skilled researcher and writer, Kaleigh Barrett leverages her outstanding communication and analytical skills to craft precise, focused, and compelling arguments that help drive successful resolutions for clients facing complex litigation challenges. Kaleigh draws upon these skills at all stages of litigation, from research and discovery through motion practice and trial preparation.
Kaleigh is a dynamic litigator with experience handling a
variety of complex litigation matters, including commercial, white collar,
labor and employment, and class action disputes. Informed by her tenure as a
judicial and pro se law clerk in the United States District Court for
the Northern District of Illinois, Kaleigh has a talent for identifying and
distilling key legal issues that directly impact the outcome of a case. She
applies this expertise in her oral and written advocacy to strategically
position her clients for the best possible results in furtherance of their
business priorities and goals.
Beyond the courtroom, Kaleigh partners with clients to design,
implement, and enhance compliance programs that align with current regulations,
industry best practices, and oversight priorities. She is often called upon to
interpret, analyze, and advise clients on new and emerging trends in the
regulatory landscape to ensure compliance. Equipped with this knowledge,
Kaleigh works closely with clients to conduct risk assessments, draft
compliance policies and procedures, and develop relevant training programs. She
is also relied upon to conduct internal investigations involving sensitive
compliance issues, including allegations of discrimination, harassment, and
retaliation.
Prior to law school, Kaleigh worked as a Girl’s Empowerment
Coordinator in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where she developed a values-based
curriculum for at-risk youth. She continues to serve her community as a
P.E.A.K. mentor for high school students at Holy Trinity High School in
Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. Kaleigh is also an adjunct professor at
Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she teaches an appellate writing
and advocacy course as part of Loyola’s Honors Appellate Advocacy Program.
