RSHC partner Edward Casmere’s program at annual ABA CLE meeting garners high turnout and positive reception

The 25th Annual Spring CLE Meeting of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Toxic Torts & Environmental Law Committee was held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona April 7 – 9, 2016, with RSHC partner Ed Casmere serving as Program Chair.

Casmere’s program was a tremendous success, attracting one of the highest numbers of registered attendees and sponsors in years. The program featured 13 different panels on topics that included cancer causation and genetics, genetically modified organisms, nanotechnology, the ethics of social media and blogging, fracking, and environmental regulations, as well as an in-house counsel panel and a panel of plaintiffs’ lawyers on the future of tort and environmental litigation.  The faculty included more than 40 highly respected professionals, including a California state court judge, a federal regulator, scientists, researchers, medical experts, toxicologists, jury consultants, and plaintiff and defense counsel.

In addition to the substantive presentations, the 2016 Program featured a public service project with the Arizona Lions Club Sight & Hearing Foundation that resulted in the donation of hundreds of pairs of eyeglasses, sunglasses, and hearing aids. The meeting also included a celebratory dinner on Friday, April 8, 2016, honoring the past 25 Chairs of the TTEL committee, with 18 of them in attendance.

Ed Casmere is a Vice Chair of the ABA’s Toxic Torts & Environmental Law Committee, and will serve as the Committee Chair in 2018.
