Illinois:

- Permits the use of blockchain technology, subject to specified limits; Provides that signatures, records, and contracts secured through blockchain technology are legally valid; Limits local governments’ imposition of restrictions on the use of blockchain technology.
- The Blockchain Business Development Act (205 Ill. Comp. Stat. Ann. 725/1 to 725/15) (eff. Jun. 1, 2020)
- Provides for a public record blockchain banking study and report to be completed by Jan. 1, 2021 with recommendations for legislation and regulatory changes necessary to support the use of blockchain technology.
