Lisa Houdyshell knows that differentiating yourself as an attorney can be challenging, but she has done this by blending her passion for the law and new experiences. Having visited 25 different countries, she embraces new and interesting experiences, people, and places along with the adventure and spontaneity the journey brings. Her tenure as senior counsel with a Fortune 500 global mining corporation allowed her to journey to and provide legal support for sales and commercial teams in China, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Venezuela, and the United Kingdom. She is respectful and in tune with other cultures and customs and draws from this diverse spectrum of experiences in her professional and personal life.
Lisa is an assertive leader and influencer. Her friendly and approachable manner enables her to easily build bridges between herself, clients, and teammates. Her legal journey is varied and far reaching, including being a solo practitioner, an assistant general counsel at a start-up company, a senior counsel for a Fortune 500 global mining corporation, and private practice at two large international law firms. She has also managed a small commercial art gallery. Lisa’s legal practice is as diverse as her travel with experience in a wide range of commercial contracts, mortgage based lending, and real estate transactions.
In her commercial practice, Lisa puts her legal and personal experience to work to assist established businesses and start-ups in traversing the commercial issues they face. She works with these clients to develop innovative approaches to achieve their goals by drafting and negotiating confidentiality agreements, supply agreements, consignment agreements, naming rights agreements, signage agreements, purchase and sale agreements, commodity agreements, inter-company agreements, consulting agreements, software licensing agreements, employment agreements, and a wide variety of other commercial agreements.
Lisa also has years of experience in real estate transactions. She provides individuals and entities with both practical and innovative approaches to problem solve and move the transaction to closing. She has negotiated and documented commercial office and warehouse leases, residential and commercial real estate sales and purchase agreements, a variety of deeds, easements, and indentures, construction agreements, equipment leases, and a host of other real estate transactions. Lisa has also represented lenders by documenting a variety of mortgage based financing transactions.
In addition to Lisa’s love of traveling with her partner, who is a fine art photographer, she enjoys trying new foods, cooking, and gardening. Lisa feels she is the better—both personally and professionally—for having nibbled at all the pies life has to offer.
